Christopher Doyle talking about his creative process with BBC (with his shirt off). He makes his intuition and spontaneity seem totally rational.
Even though I no longer daydream about becoming a cinematographer, I’m still awed by him. Was it his vision all along that I had fallen in love with, and not WKW’s? In the back of my mind, his life of adventure and serendipity (he met Edward Yang in a bar in Taipei) is the one that I wish I could have — a marriage of wanderlust, utter dedication to a craft, and not giving a shit what other people think.
